Pfeffernusse Christmas cookies (Otra receta de galletas alemanas II)

Pfeffernusse are one of the oldest of German cookies and an excellent addition to any Christmas cookie plate.
Enjoy with coffe, tea or hot chocolate, or just eat!

Merry Christmas to  you all!!

Adapted from: My best german recipes

Ingredients

130 g clear honey
70 grams brown sugar
2 tablespoon butter
300 grams all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder (or ammonium carbonate)
1 egg
2 teaspoon ginger spice
1/4 tsp white pepper (point of the knife)
1 pinch salt
200 grams powdered sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon rum

Method

First heat in a pot butter, honey and sugar and melt it.
In a large bowl mix all purpose flour, egg, baking powder, salt and spices.
Add the melted honey to dough and and knead it throughly.
Preheat oven to 190°c (375°F)
Form balls out of the dough and put in a oven sheet and bake for 12 minutes, They would be little golden.

Make the glaze out of powdered sugar and rum and a bit of water.
Spread the glaze over the cooles cookies and let them dry.
(you can spread other layer of glaze if you like) ANd you can make a dark chocolate glaze and spread it on half of the cookies and have the other half white.

Merry Christmas to all!
