Ingredients
3 1/4 all purpose flour
3 tablespoon sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1cup buttermilk or plain yogurt
1/2 cup whipping cream (or milk)
1/3 cup butter melted and cooled slightly
1/4 cup butter softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 apple peeled and chopped
Caramel frosting
1 cream cheese (philadelphia type)
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
3 tablespoon caramel sauce
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 180|° c
In a mixing bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
In another bowl whisk the buttermilk (or yogurt) cream and melted butter.
Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Dont worry it il doesnt look like it's going to come together.
Using your hands kneed the dough until it comes together. If it seems a little sticky add more flour (I add 1/3 cup more)
Roll out the dough on a floured surface using rolling pin . You want the dough to be about 18 x 10 inches.Spread the dough with softened butter.
Combine the brown sugar, sugar and cinnamon.
Spread over dough evenly. If you want add the chopped apples now.
Starting with the long and roll the dough as tightly as you can.
Pinch the seam to seal and place the roll, seam side down. on the counter.
Cut the dough into 12 pieces using a sharp knife.
Pick up the slices and place in a greased muffin pan.
Bake about 20 to 25 minutes or until are golden brown.
Frosting
While the rolls are baking make your frosting.
Combine the cream cheese and butter in microwaves
safe bowl.
Microwave in 15 to20 seconds intervals until you can whisk the misxture together.Whisk in caramel sauce milk and vanilla until smooth. Whisk in the powdered sugarntil smootyh. Drizzle over rolls.
easy caramel sauce

DeleteIs this what they call in Spain bollitos? We can't use that word in Cuba, though. It's slang for a woman's nether parts. :-) These "rollos". By the way, we did have fabada asturiana and it was out of this world. I've never had such a delicious soup in my life. I cooked it a few weeks after we came back from Spain to remind us all of the good time we had there.
ReplyDeleteQue sabrosas son tus recetas. Muchas gracias.
Saludos desde Londres.
Ah you really make me laugh, yes the buns are called rollitos (I ad a friend from Argentina always said me: hey y trajiste algun rollito? haha)anyway I called cakes or buns you know how is when you talk two languajes is funny, sometimes I think in encglish and others in spanish of course.
