Cream Veal and Mushrooms Pie with Potato Crust

Well another event (That I can participate) and love it is T&T (tried and Taste) from my friend Zlamushka of http://burntmouth.blogspot.com/ and this month she invited us to cook from http://whatsforlunchhoney.blogspot.com/ from Meeta, Meeta is from India and live in Germany, I invite you to see her lovelies recipes. How many times was so difficult what's choose!! Finally I try this, is so nice, lovely and the childs REALLY love, (I made 6 portions) and they wanted more!! I serve with tomatoes salad and goes so well.

I change only the meat because I didn`t have Veal (I love it) and I use beef meat, and the potatoes was a little funny I read grated potatoes and when Im little crazy I read so fast and I made cubes potatoes!! but I know what is grated potatoes!!! but I dont have any problem with recipe and you may make with grated potatoes how really is!!

Thanks to Zlamushka by invited me and thanks toi Meeta by share these recipes, I have to try others Meeta, I will tell you.

Ingredients

750 Veal (or other meat) cut into strips

1 large onion finely chopped

250 button mushrooms-sliced

2 tablespoons oil

salt and pepper

150 ml dry white wine (or veal stock)

2 tablespoons flour

200 grs- cream

750 potatoes grated

1 egg( I use two eggs)

Method

Preheat to medium heat (200º C)

In a large pan heat up the oil and fry the meat in portions until browned.

Add salt and pepper.

Take out of the pan and set aside.

Sautè the mushrooms and onion in the same pan.

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flour over the mixture and allow to cook for aprox. 1 minute.

Pour in the wine, 1/2 cup of water and the cream.Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow to simmer for aprox. 5 minutes.

In a bowl mix together the eggs with the grated potatoes and the rest of the flour.Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add the veal strips to the mushrooms sauce and add salt and pepper to taste.Fill the ramekin forma with the veal and mushroom mixture. Then cover each bowl with a generous helping of grated potatoes.Press down gently.

Bake for 45 minutes.

Towards the end put on the grill function of the oven to allow the potato crust to brown evenly and become crispy.

Vegetarian tip: Instead of the veal substitute with a mix of different mushroom types.

Note of Meeta: By making this in little ramekin bowls you could evenb consider serving this as a starter to a meal.If you do not have small ramekin bowls,an alternative would be to use a larger oven proof dish.
