Affogato is a traditional Italian espresso-based treat.
The name is Affogato al caffe. The dessert consists of a scoop of ice cream with a shot of hot espresso poured over the top.
The basic recipe has a large number of variations- using different coffe drinks or different Ice cream flavors.
And is easy and delicious!

(5 to 6 servings)
6 scoops good quality vanilla Ice crean
6 shots hot espresso coffe
grated chocolate or cinnamon or cardamom
Several hours in advance lay Ice cream on a freezer proof tray
and put the tray back in the freezer.
To serve put balls of Ice cream into 5 or 6 glasses
and pour a shot of hot espresso coffe over each.
Serve straight away stirring the vanilla Ice cream
into the hot coffe so that it melts a little.
Add whipped cream and garnish with grated chocolate or cinnamon.
