Is not easy make this post to remembering Dan that was a wonderful participant of our group Secret Recipe Club affable and charming man who had a blog with his wife Meredith called the haggis and the herring.
Unfortunately he passed away suddenly a few days ago and that's why we're doing this tribute.
And invite you to read the lovely Meredith tribute to his husband here
But Daniel had a wonderful sense of humor and would be happy we enjoy his recipes.
From his blog I chose this Pie absolutely delicious with berries and crumble that I'm sure you will love.

Ingredients
Crust
1-1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup butter melted
Filling
3 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoon lemon juice
Topping
2 Tablespoon oats
3 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoon butter
Method
Crust
Preheat oven to 180° c
Combine graham cracker crumbs sugar and oats.
Add butter and mix in until crumbly.
Press mixture into a 9 inch pie plate and bake for 6 minutes.
Set aside.
Filling
Combine berries and half of the water in a medium saucepan and
bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 2 minutes stirring
frequently.
In a small bowl bowl stir together remaining water cornstarch and lemon juice.
Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into berry mixture and continue stirring mixture for about 30 seconds or until mixtures thickens .
Pour filling into pie crust.
Topping
Mix all ingredients together until it reaches acrumbly texture.
Sprinkle on top of filling.
Bake pie for an additional 15 minutes.
Let cool before serve.
Enjoy!

About the recipe
1. Is a winner easy and delicious you can add vanilla Ice cream or whipped cream.
2. I used frozen berries (mix of raspberries and blueberries)
3. I added some sugar (about 2 tablespoon) to berries because sometimes arent sweet (you can add sucralosa too)

De su blog de recetas yo escogí este Pie de berries con crumble realmente rico.
Ingredientes
Masa
1 1/4 taza de galletas graham cracker molidas (o similares)
1/3 taza de azúcar
1/2 taza de avena
1/2 taza de mantequilla derretida
Relleno
3 tazas de berries mixtos (pueden ser congelados o frescos)
1/4 taza de agua
2 cucharadas de maicena
2 cucharaditas de jugo de limón
Topping
2 cucharadas de avena
3 cucharadas de azucar rubia
2 cucharadas de mantequilla
Preparación

thanks for the prayers and thoughts gloria...i put an update in the comments....but he is stable right now, pneumonia and anemia, he is losing blood internally somehow and they will be testing today to figure that out...

DeleteWhen I was in Toronto last year I tried to meet up with Dan and his wife meredith but it did not work with his schedule. I am very sorry to hear about his passing. As for the pie I love it Gloria.

DeleteAn delicious choice to remember a man who cooked with all his heart for the people he loved and cherished. I am from Group D, but reading about the sudden demise made me think of the family and I joined the tribute hoping I could bring a little sunshine to there gloomy days.

It must be a very sad time for all of those who knew him especially if his death came as a shock. I wish you strength in coping with this sudden loss and supporting his family while they struggle to adjust.
